What is Sound Engineering – Definition, Qualifications, Best Institutions, Know Everything

Sound plays a very important role in our life. Without sound life is like food without salt. As salt makes the food tasty, Sound makes the life meaningful. In every step of our daily routine we hear a different sound. Even when we take breath it produces a sound too.

What is Sound Engineering?

In simple words we can say that Sound Engineering is the study of Music. Sound Engineering teaches all the aspects of Music. In Sound Engineering students learn mixing of different sounds, manipulating the music and creating a new music too.

Sound Engineers develop a high quality recording of music, speech and sound effects in studios. They use technical instruments to produce sound for film, radio, television, drama etc.

They usually arrive at the concert sight before the performers and are involved in unloading and setting up the equipment and instruments along with the road crew.

  1. Certificate courses: Candidates can pursue a Certificate course in Creative Media Arts-Digital Sound (CCMA) which is a maximum two years course. If we talk about eligibility, only 12th is required for the Certification courses.
  2. Diploma courses: 12th or equivalent exam.
  3. Bachelor courses: A candidate who passed 12th from PCM subjects can get the admission in Bachelor degree programme in Sound Engineering.
  4. Master course: After getting Bachelor’s degree in Sound Engineering, students can go for master courses.
